Abya Yala Indigenous Women’s Summit in Panama

Representatives of the National Coordination of Indigenous Women of Panama and Four Worlds Foundation leaders met in November 2015 at the Panama City Convention Center. Four hundred women leaders from Panama, the rest of Abya Yala and from NGOs participated. During five days they discussed the promotion  of qualified women in order to foster proposals that allow them to improve their life’s conditions and to understand the processes that they are living through as women and as Indigenous peoples. Consultations at the Summit evaluated various unification strategies across the continent, as well as to assess indigenous women’s work plans in order to consolidate regional, national and continental organizational processes, and women’s leadership regarding executive capabilities. The Abya Yala Indigenous Women’s Summit in 2015 was possible with the collaboration of Four Worlds Foundation, Panama, CONAMUIP, as well as with support from the Continental League of Indigenous Women (Central Region) and the City of Knowledge Foundation
